Day vs. Night Skincare Routine: A 7-Step Guide

You’ve already learned how to create a skincare routine using our previous blog as a guide. If you want to get the most out of your skincare products, you should stick to a routine that includes both day and nighttime applications.  This guide will teach you to take care for your skin. From cleansing to moisturizing, so you can wake up every morning with radiant and healthy skin.

Step 1: Double cleanse

When to use: Day & Night

When it pertains to healthy skin, you must consider double cleansing. This entails washing your face twice. Once with a cleansing oil and then with a water based cleaners. The first cleanse aids in the removal of impurities, makeup, and sunscreen. The second step helps breakdown the oil used in the previous step. In summary, double cleansing will help your skin feel fresh and clean. This two-way process will aid in the removal of dirt, bacteria, and toxins that have accumulated on your skin throughout the day.

Step 2: Toner

When to use: Day & Night

Although it is optional, you should consider using toner. Toners have a liquid consistency and a pH range of 4.5 to 6. After cleansing with an oil cleanser, toner helps to balance your skin’s pH levels. It also helps to reduce inflammation and redness in your skin. Finally, toners are an excellent base for applying other products such as serums and creams to maximize their benefits.

Step 3: Retinol (Age 26+)

When to use: Night

Retinol is a type of vitamin A. It works by exfoliating your skin and removing dead skin cells. It’s main benefit is that it stimulates production of collagen, which is essential for maintaining the health of our skin. Simply put, as we get older, our bodies produce less collagen, resulting in more wrinkles and lines on our skin. By using Retinol, you can avoid premature aging and acne breakouts. If you plan to use retinol, we suggest avoiding toner because it may cause your skin to dry out.

Step 4: Essences

Essences aid in the restoration and maintenance of the skin’s natural protective barrier. Given that it is non-irritating and helps reduce redness, itching, and swelling, it is frequently used by people with sensitive skin or conditions like eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis. Using an essence before applying a serum can help the skin more easily and deeply absorb that serum.

There are many different types of moisturizer’s available, including lotions, creams, gels, and so on, so choose the one that is right for you. Some people prefer lighter formulations in the summer, while others prefer heavier formulations in the winter when their skin is more prone to drying out.

When to use: Day

Finally, the last step in any day time skincare routine is to apply sunscreen. This is a crucial part of any skincare routine because it prevents premature aging and skin cancer. Applying sunscreen before going outside protects your skin from UV rays and has anti-inflammatory effects that keep it looking young and healthy. Consider looking  for sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, which provide high SPF protection against dangerous rays.
